Today Josephine is 2 weeks old. I can't believe it's already been 2 weeks! She had her check up and her weight is awesome (8lbs. 10 oz.)! We love going to our doctor because the staff is so nice and our ped is sooo laid back. Like at Carlise's 18 month check-up she kicked him square in the chest. I was mortified and all he said was, "Oh, you're starting to be active?" very calmly, too. Today while I was there, a kid was having a time of "wailing and gnashing of teeth" (only way I can think to describe it) for a good 10 minutes. It sounded like he was in the same exam room as us and both doors were closed! Dr. came in our room as soon as he finished with that kid and he didn't even seem phased by it! =]

One Week Update
Josephine is one week old today. I can't believe it's already been a week. She's such a good sleeper I have to wake her for feedings. She even sleeps in the living room during the day despite all their screaming and crying. Carlise & Wesley are loving her every chance they get. Wesley will even take the paci out to kiss her. Ben & I don't even get that good of treatment. During the midnight hour feedings I get sweet smiles and bright eyes.
Josie's weight:
Discharge 2/16/08 was 7 lbs. 10 oz.
2-day appt 2/19/08 was 7 lbs. 10 oz.
BFSG meeting today was 8 lbs. 1 oz.
*Needs to be back up to birth weight by 2 week check-up and then average 4 oz. gain a week.

On Our Plate
We have a big decision to make soon. We knew my body would have some damage from having pregnancies back to back. After Josie was born and I was getting stitched back up Dr. Gordon gave me some bad news. "Your uterus is very thin. There is so much scar tissue there's practically nothing to sew together. Your risk of uterine rupture is very high now." He didn't say we couldn't have any more children, just that he would not deliver them.
-Get a second opinion? How? He was the only surgeon, and an ultrasound can't detect scar tissue.
-Wait 5 years and see if my body heals? again, how would we know after 5 years the condition of it (without surgery), and what if we got pregnant before then? We don't want to put ourselves in the position of having to choose between a child's life and my own.
It's such a bittersweet time in our home right now. Being faced with the very real possibility of never being pregnant again (feeling that little one move inside me), having a permanent method of birth control at only 24, and only having 3 children.
---But celebrating in the 3 very healthy happy children we have been blessed with, and savoring the joys of being their parents and watching them learn and grow and love.
And thankfully, we were somewhat prepared for the news. We discussed adoption a month or so ago. Some people have the opinion that you don't adopt if you can become pregnant and have your own children. However, we are of the opinion that if we can provide the home that child deserves then we adopt. We couldn't do it for many more years and would possibly foster before adopting, but we have it for consideration.
We need to get to the temple, soon!

We came home early - opting for 48 hours instead of 72. I updated with pictures Mom took. Went on an outing today to Sam's Club. it gave me the opportunity to walk around without being crowded- and pick up a few things we didn't need.

Mail Issues
Ever since Thursday we haven't gotten any mail. NOTHING, not even junk. As in the mailman drives straight past our mailbox. Since I've been expecting SEVERAL things in the mail, this has been very disappointing. Why, the week before I have the baby and expecting things? Anyway, the stupid mail computer screwed up. Turns out it has been going to my sister-in-laws house. So, at least it's going to someone that we keep in contact with and she only lives 15 minutes away.

Valentine's Date
So Ben has been feeling better. And we went and celebrated Valentine's Day. Our babysitter got sick, but we were able to find a back-up quickly. I'm very glad we were able to enjoy the afternoon together. It was long overdue and very much needed

One Week
Today is the 3rd day Ben has been home sick from work. He's one of those that practically NEVER gets sick (as in he didn't get sick at all last year), but when he does- it's BAD! He finally decided he felt bad enough to go see the doctor. We have to have him better by Wednesday! He has all the symptoms of the flu, but tested negative for it. So, the doctor is treating him like he has strep. Which is good news for the rest of us in the house. Having him home has made it practically impossible to get stuff crossed off my list. Instead of working on that, I'm focused on keeping the kids from waking him up and sanitizing everything. Only one week, what am I going to do? I really hope he feels better by Saturday so we can go out and celebrate Valentine's Day. Poor guy, he keeps apologizing about the timing of it and that I have to get everything for him. He promises he'll make it up to me. I know he will, he makes it up to me everytime I'm recovering from having a baby. And yes, the timing stinks, but he has no control over it, no need to apologize. He's sick, but still sweet.
So is Anna. My poor wheelchair bound sister who shops all over to find a shirt for Wesley to wear in the Valentine's picture with his sisters. Because stupid stores in my area don't have ANYTHING for little boys for Valentine's Day. And my friend Holly is making matching hairbows for the girls.
Wesley had his 15 month check-up yesterday. He was such a big boy and only cried with the needles. As soon as it was all done, he stopped. He's so different from Carlise. You just mention shots and she screams. We're going to go tour the birthing center with them sometime this weekend so they can understand a little more about where we'll be.

Soo we got our used Mac awhile back. It's nothing fancy, but it's nice to not have our computer redone every 3 months (like the PC was). We have to eventually replace the internal battery, but not a problem as long as we don't turn it off. We're hoping to get a used Mac keyboard sometime soon (for the hot keys) but we'll manage until that happens.
And we ordered our replacement camera. It should arrive tomorrow. We were not going to be without a camera when the baby is born! Mom offered to let us borrow hers, but she uses it almost everyday at work taking pictures of the kids for their parents. And with them having a Valentine's Day party, that just wasn't going to work. It really was time for our camera to die. We'd had it almost 5 years and it's only 2 mega pixels. We went to consumer reports and looked at their testing and found a model that would fit our needs. It's the Kodak M853 and I searched and finally found a great deal at NewEgg. Again, it's nothing fancy, but we think we'll be happy with it. Hey, at this point, as long as it takes good pictures and reads our SD card, we'll be thrilled. =]

Okay, so its February 1st and I have my surgery on Valentine's Day. AAAAAAAAA!!!! freaked? just a little. Mostly because I have this HUGE to do list before she gets here. And it's always hard for me to distinguish between what is really a necessity and what is just something I have added on to my list because apparently I love stressing myself out. I do this every time I make a list (which is for pretty much everything). On the upside I have cute clothes for the baby and am expecting more in the mail from Anna. She found some cute clothes for the kids to wear in the picture.
The room I really have to get clean is the Nursery. Normally I don't worry about it because baby won't be in there for a few months. However, our moms will be sleeping in there while we're at the hospital, so I have to clean off the futon. So, why am I blogging when I could be cleaning? Because who wants to clean when you can hear squeals of laughter coming from the living room? I only clean during naptime, which is actually when I should be napping. *sigh*
