Appendicitis Sucks!
If you haven't heard yet I had emergency surgery on Monday night. My appendix was inflamed, infected and waiting to rupture. Luckily I have a loving wife that suggested that I go to the doctor and get the pains on my right side checked out. Our doctor was surprised that I was not doubled over due to the pain. The surgery lasted about an hour or so and went fine. The surgeon said that my appendix was so infected it was covered in puss and was really swollen (I know sounds disgusting). I was in the hospital for less than 24 hours and have been home since yesterday. I hate the feeling of being helpless. They say I can't really do much other than lay in bed and wait for things to heal. If any of you ever have to have this surgery I feel for you. I now have a new sensitivity to my wife's three c-sections.

It Hurts When I Do This
So my projects are all on hold for a week. Ben had an emergency appendectomy at 9pm last night. It started as pain in his side on Sunday afternoon. It was still hurting yesterday but he rated his pain as only a 4. He went to the doctor yesterday afternoon anyway (after using the helpful diagnostic tool at WebMD.com), they sent him over for a C.T. Scan which showed he had appendicitis. His surgery went really well and they were able to remove it using laparoscopic tools.

Journaling
As I was in the shed hauling out boxes to start the process of whittling down the children's clothes (and wondering why I ever thought it was a brilliant idea to put these boxes in the very back) I came across my box of memories. I decided to open it up & go through some of the stuff. While I did find some stuff to get rid of, I also found something I surprisingly wanted to keep. I've owned many diaries over the years and I have yet to fill one up. Of course it didn't help that I would go back and rip out the pages when I came across an embarrasing entry. However, I was surprised at how much I actually recorded in this mini Hello Kitty diary during Jr. High & HS. Especially when majority of it was important things and not just the typical blurb about whatever boy I was currently oogling over. I can't believe how much I had forgotten about friends, births, trials, love, & even death. It reminds me that I need to be better about recording the current things that are important to me- my marriage, motherhood, my children & their quirks, my relationships with my siblings, extended family, & inlaws.

Mission
It's too soon for us to know if we're done having kids or not so we're just going to continue what we've been doing. Everything feels comfortable the way it is and we're just enjoying that.
BUT, I did figure it up the other night that if we don't add onto our brood- then by the time Josie is 18 (and will be a legal adult in every state but ours) I will only be 43 & Ben will be 49. We could potentially be by ourselves before the age of 50!
So, would we be old enough to serve a mission as a senior couple?

Quick Recap
i know, i know. I promised one last week. I've just not had the inclination to get online lately. Instead I've cuddled with my little monsters and enjoyed PBS.
But Atlanta was the best trip we've taken so far. It was a wonderful experience all around! Our children traveled very well and of course, it didn't hurt that we took Leighann with us as a babysitter. She was a great help & our children adore her. It was wonderful getting to spend time with Rockey & Stormy & Uncle Denny. It was a memorable experience being in the temple with family members.
Next trip - Augusta to visit Anna & Toby
I'm currently working to clean up our home. My children have way too many clothes. I have done 5 large loads so far & I have at least 3 more to do. Because the dirty ones got mixed in with the clean and Wesley was "helpful" and unloaded some from the drawers, so I'm just washing it all and going from there. I then have to go through and take out what doesn't fit them anymore (especially for the girls) and get rid of it. And then pare down what currently fits them, so they only have enough for 2 weeks. Anymore than that and it will be too much for me to handle. Again.
and then it's time to declutter. *SIGH*

i've been reading
sorry for the lack of updating. I've been reading. I have inhaled/devoured the Twilight series. Oh so good!! And since I've been borrowing the books from George, I've been reading them over & over before I give them back.
I haven't been online much at all, not for e-mail or even google reader. In fact I had over 200 posts to read on google reader. (You folks have been busy!) I'm going to finish reading this last time and give George back her books. (sorry!) And we're going to be in Atlanta this weekend for Aubrey & Chris's temple sealing. I think today is their 2 year anniversary actually.
anywho, I'll be busy getting everything ready to go & shouldn't get stuck online so until next week.
