History

I'm not very good with words. Today is very conflicting for me emotionally. There are a few scriptures and 2 quotes that best express how I feel about Usama bin Laden being killed.

For behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do (2 Nephi 32:3) Prov 24.17, "Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice"; Ezek 18.32, "I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord"; Ezek 33.11, "I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked."

I have never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure." Mark Twain

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate:… only love can do that." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

But I did find a blog post that struck a very deep chord in me and since she is better with words I'm just going to share it with you. http://ordinaryhappilyeverafter.com/blog/2011/05/conflicted/

Absolutely fantastic! I was so happy when you posted the MLK quote on facebook because I felt like I was a weirdo not being all happy about it like everyone else. I couldn't help but think that it was just one man, yes he orcestrated a horrible event, but he was not alone in his organization and someone will be there to take his place. My husband then pointed out that who knows what the retaliation of this will be. I especially love the scriptures you found as well. More fitting than the only one I could think of which was about it being better that one man should die than a nation dwindle in unbelief, but that didn't quite fit the situation or my feelings.
Love ya!
